The growth converges toward a narrow pointed termination, giving the specimen a dramatic fan- or spear-like form. The crystal surfaces have silky to pearly luster, with smaller radiating sprays developed near the base and a contrasting patch of dark gray-green matrix remaining on one side.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003ePectolite is a sodium-calcium silicate that commonly develops as radiating, fibrous, or acicular crystal aggregates. The Paterson area is a classic American locality for Pectolite and other secondary minerals occurring within cavities of the region's basaltic traprock.
