Amazonite is a green to blue-green variety of microcline feldspar, valued for its opaque color and subtle internal mottling. Its distinctive coloration is attributed to trace amounts of lead and water within the feldspar structure.
Amazonite commonly forms in granitic pegmatites and is often associated with quartz and albite.
Major sources include Brazil, Madagascar, and the United States. Natural variations in color, veining, and translucency make each piece unique.
