Vivid blue-green Amazonite with one polished face that highlights the color and internal feldspar texture, while the remaining surfaces have been left in their natural, raw state. The unpolished sides display blocky cleavage, stepped crystalline surfaces, and patches of cream to white matrix with minor rusty-brown staining, creating a nice contrast between the specimen's natural texture and polished interior.
Amazonite is the blue-green variety of Microcline, a potassium feldspar characteristically found in coarse-grained granitic pegmatites. Amelia County is a classic Virginia Amazonite region, with numerous historic pegmatite workings that produced Amazonite and other collectible minerals.
