Garnet- Faceting Rough
Otavi, Bergland District, Namibia
Dimensions: 1.8 × 1.2 × 0.8 cm
Provenance: Original collection label, catalog no. 536, identifying the specimen as “Faceting Garnet” from Otavi, Bergland District, Southwest Africa.
A richly colored garnet specimen exhibiting deep wine-red to reddish-brown coloration with brilliant flashes of fiery crimson translucency. The glassy surfaces reveal curved, conchoidal fracture patterns and a striking contrast between the nearly black exterior and the glowing red interior.
Originally preserved as faceting rough, this specimen offers an attractive example of garnet's characteristic vitreous luster and intense red coloration. Accompanied by its original historical collection label from what was formerly known as Southwest Africa.
