This specimen has large calcite crystals with rich golden coloration that are prominently perched atop a matrix of sharply crystallized galena. This creates dramatic contrast between the warm translucent calcite and the metallic lead-gray galena matrix.

The galena exhibits classic cubic form with bright metallic luster and stepped growth features. Resting upon this foundation are two dominant calcite crystals displaying attractive color and substantial size. The combination of color, texture, and crystal form creates a visually compelling specimen representative of one of North America's most productive lead-zinc mining regions.

*Ex. Ray Berry Collection. Ray Berry was a respected Colorado mineral collector and mining claim owner whose passion for minerals spanned more than 40 years. He owned and operated several mining claims during his collecting career and was an active member of the Colorado Springs Mineralogical Society, where he served as both Show Committee Chairman and President. Ray was also a dedicated member of Friends of Mineralogy. His collection reflects a lifetime devoted to mineral collecting, mining, and the advancement of the hobby. Ray passed away in 2017.
