An older collection lot containing numerous small, loose Thorianite crystals from historic Ceylon, now Sri Lanka. The crystals range from irregular grains to well-developed black to brownish-black cubic and blocky individuals, with several showing recognizable crystal faces and growth features.
Ceylon is historically an important locality for Thorianite: the species was discovered there in the early 1900s, and Balangoda is the type locality. Old Ceylon material very commonly originated from gem-bearing alluvial gravels.
