Gummite
Dimensions: 2.2 × 2.2 × 1.0 cm
Provenance: Older collection specimen; original catalog label No. 295 included.
Brilliant yellow-orange to golden Gummite occurs abundantly across a pale pegmatitic matrix, accompanied by scattered yellow-green secondary uranium mineralization and dark residual material. The intense coloration and varied alteration textures make this a striking example of an older uranium ore specimen.
Gummite is a historical name for a variable mixture of secondary uranium minerals formed through the oxidation and alteration of Uraninite rather than a single mineral species.
