An old European locality specimen of Chlorapatite from Telemark, Norway. The specimen consists of a substantial reddish-brown to muted salmon-colored crystalline mass with vitreous to slightly pearly surfaces and numerous intergrown crystal and cleavage faces. Lighter cream-colored areas occur throughout, adding contrast to the otherwise rich earthy coloration.
Chlorapatite is the chlorine-dominant member of the apatite group and is considerably less commonly encountered in collections than ordinary Fluorapatite. Telemark is historically important for the species, with Chlorapatite documented from several classic Norwegian occurrences.
