Honey-yellow to golden Barite forms translucent crystalline masses with broad, highly reflective cleavage surfaces and a vitreous to pearly luster. Areas of nearly colorless to pale cream Barite contrast with the warmer golden coloration throughout the specimen.
Barite is a barium sulfate mineral known for its unusually high specific gravity and excellent cleavage. It commonly occurs in hydrothermal veins and is frequently associated with metallic ore deposits.
