A set of three small Oligoclase Feldspar crystals ranging from colorless to pale cream with translucent to semi-transparent areas and a soft vitreous to pearly luster.
Oligoclase is a sodium-rich member of the plagioclase feldspar series. Some translucent Oligoclase exhibits a floating bluish-white optical sheen caused by light interacting with microscopic internal structures; material showing this effect has historically been sold as Moonstone, as reflected on the original collection label. Today, the name Moonstone is applied to feldspars displaying adularescence rather than to Oligoclase generally.
