Dream Amethyst (trade name) is a naturally banded variety of amethyst, a purple form of quartz (SiO₂), recognized for its distinctive chevron or V-shaped zoning of purple amethyst and white quartz.

This banding formed during episodic crystal growth, when changes in conditions caused alternating layers of amethyst-rich and colorless quartz to develop. The purple coloration results from trace iron within the quartz structure, modified by natural irradiation over time.

Most Dream Amethyst is sourced from Brazil, where large hydrothermal quartz systems allow for repeated growth phases. When polished, the stone clearly displays its internal structure, with each piece showing a unique banding pattern shaped by its geological history.
