This beautiful piece of petrified wood from Oregon displays rich bands of chocolate brown, honey-gold, cream, and smoky translucent material, with preserved linear textures reminiscent of the original wood grain. The specimen comes from an older mineral and fossil collection and was historically identified as Ginkgo wood on its original collection label. Because identifying fossil wood to genus generally requires examination of its microscopic anatomy, we are conservatively offering the specimen as petrified wood while preserving the original Ginkgo attribution as part of its provenance.
