Fluorite
Hilton Mine, Scordale, Murton, Eden, Cumbria, England, UK
Dimensions: 6.0 x 3.6 x 4.1 cm
A richly colored Fluorite specimen from the historic Hilton Mine, Scordale, Cumbria, England, featuring an impressive cluster of golden-yellow to amber crystals. The specimen is densely crystallized, with numerous overlapping Fluorite cubes building into a highly three-dimensional formation with twinning. Several larger crystals rise prominently above the cluster, displaying broad geometric faces and excellent translucency. Their warm coloration ranges from pale honey along thinner edges to saturated golden yellow and amber through the interiors, producing a luminous appearance when illuminated.
Smaller intergrown cubes surround the dominant crystals, creating considerable depth and complexity across the display face. Subtle internal inclusions, zoning, and variations in transparency are visible throughout, while occasional iron-rich mineralization contributes deeper ochre tones between the crystals.
The Hilton Mine is one of Britain's classic Fluorite localities, celebrated in particular for its yellow and amber cubic Fluorite. Fine undamaged twins are especially prized, and historic Hilton specimens are represented in major mineral collections.
