Berbes, situated in the province of Ribadesella, Asturias, on Spain's northern coast, hosts the renowned Berbes Mine. This mine has gained acclaim for its remarkable violet and blue-purple fluorite cubic crystals, often found alongside quartz and barite. Specimens from this region are highly sought after by collectors and mineral enthusiasts.
Since the 1930s, the Berbes area has seen the operations of various competing entrepreneurs and companies. However, ongoing challenges such as the deteriorating physical condition of the mine and insufficient funding have led to a decline in the availability of high-quality specimens over the decades. Despite this scarcity, the distinctive composition and captivating color of Purple Fluorite from the Berbes Mine continue to captivate collectors and mineral enthusiasts worldwide.
