Rather than relying on a single dominant crystal, this specimen draws its appeal from the harmony of many. Pale blue-green multi-stepped fluorite cubes blanket the display face, creating an intricate landscape of intergrown crystals.
In my experience of collecting modern Chinese fluorite, Yongchun County has become one of China's most distinctive modern fluorite localities and continues to be highly sought after. Yongchun produces specimens ranging from soft, muted mint green palettes to the famous Xia Yang "Tanzanite" fluorites. Among local dealers, this material is often referred to as "Morandi" fluorite and in the US it has become called "QR Code" fluorite.
This specimen's blue-green cubes are beautifully complemented by sparkling drusy quartz matrix. Many of the fluorite crystals exhibit pronounced stepped growth on their faces, together with subtle edge and corner modifications that add depth and complexity to their cubic forms.
The combination of pastel coloration, sculptural crystal development, and glittering quartz has made these specimens increasingly sought after by collectors of fine modern Chinese minerals.
