Marialite Singatse Range, near Yerington, Nevada Dimensions: 2.8 x 2.3 x 1.6 cm
Marialite is the sodium-rich end member of the scapolite group, and the specimen shows the mineral as a pale cream-to-white, strongly striated crystalline aggregate with scattered subtle greenish inclusions or staining. The broad parallel growth texture is particularly nice under magnification.
Note: Marialite–meionite scapolites form a compositional series, and visually separating members of that series isn't reliable. We have preserved the original labeled species but this has not been chemically confirmed.
