Natrolite (Fibrous)- Pennsylvania, USA

Natrolite (Fibrous)- Pennsylvania, USA

Natrolite (Fibrous)
Pennsylvania, USA
Dimensions: 3.5 × 3.3 × 2.0 cm
Provenance: Original vintage collection label, catalog no. 240, included with specimen.

A beautiful specimen of fibrous Natrolite featuring delicate, radiating sprays of fine, needle-like crystals in shades of creamy white, ivory, and pale peach. The silky, satin-like luster accentuates the intricate fan-shaped growth patterns, with overlapping crystal aggregates creating a striking contrast against the dark gray host rock. Multiple radiating formations extend across the specimen, highlighting the mineral's distinctive fibrous crystal habit.

Natrolite is a sodium-rich zeolite mineral that commonly forms in cavities and fractures within volcanic rocks. Its slender, acicular crystals frequently develop into radiating sprays and fibrous masses, producing the delicate textures seen in this specimen. Pennsylvania has several historic zeolite-producing localities, making this an appealing example of American mineral collecting history.
