GRAPE AGATE- Mamuju Regency, West Sulawesi Province, Indonesia
Grape Agate first became available from Indonesia in 2016, and quickly became popular due to its coloration and botryoidal (little sphere) shape. While calling it Grape Agate is technically a misnomer, and Botryoidal Chalcedony is more accurate, the name is just so cute that it has stuck. To be fair, the word botryoidal comes from the Greek "botrus", or "bunch of grapes".
This specimen is HUGE and very well preserved. While most get seperated or broken up during mining, this over nine inch specimen is a gorgeous example. Quite a bunch of grapes!
