Black Hornblende occurs as abundant coarse, elongated to bladed crystalline masses throughout a contrasting peach to salmon-colored feldspar-rich matrix with areas of translucent Quartz. The dark Hornblende forms bold intergrown patches and crystals, producing a striking contrast against the lighter pegmatitic matrix.
Hornblende is a general name for a group of dark amphibole minerals commonly found in igneous and metamorphic rocks. In coarse-grained granitic material, Hornblende may occur alongside feldspar and Quartz as prominent black crystalline aggregates.
