Mammoth-Saint Anthony Mine, St. Anthony deposit, Tiger, Mammoth Mining, Pinal Co, Arizona, USA
Dimensions: 6.2 × 4.1 × 2.6 cm
Provenance: Older collection specimen; original catalog label No. 309 included.
A richly mineralized old-time specimen from the legendary Mammoth-Saint Anthony Mine at Tiger, Arizona. Brilliant electric to royal-blue Linarite and Diaboleite occur abundantly across the matrix as dense coatings, radiating/bladed aggregates, and microcrystalline material. The intense blue mineralization contrasts dramatically with pale silicate and carbonate matrix and scattered reddish-brown alteration products.
Tiger is an especially important locality for both species. It produced some of the finest American Linarite, while Diaboleite is one of the rarer lead-copper minerals for which the mine is famous.
