Autunite, Uranophane & Manganapatite– Canada
Dimensions: 5.0 × 3.6 × 2.0 cm
Provenance: Older collection specimen; original catalog label No. 285 included. Label identifies “Autunite, Urnophane [Uranophane], Manganapatite – Canada.”
An unusual older Canadian uranium-mineral specimen featuring scattered yellow to yellow-green secondary mineralization across a pale, coarse-grained pegmatitic matrix. The brightly colored coatings and small aggregates are labeled as Autunite and Uranophane, accompanied by Manganapatite. Brown micaceous material and occasional dark grains provide additional contrast across the matrix. Both Autunite and Uranophane are secondary uranium minerals that can occur as yellow alteration products associated with uranium-bearing pegmatites.
