A striking cut slab of Rhodonite from Utah, displaying broad areas of rich rose-pink rhodonite interspersed with dramatic black manganese-rich mineralization. The contrasting material forms irregular branching veins, patches and fine dendritic structures throughout the specimen, creating an unusually graphic pattern across the cut face.
When illuminated from behind, portions of the pink rhodonite become beautifully translucent, glowing in vivid coral-red to raspberry tones. The darker manganese-rich areas remain nearly opaque, dramatically emphasizing the internal structure and revealing variations in translucency that are much less apparent under reflected light.
Rhodonite is a manganese silicate mineral recognized for its characteristic pink to rose-red coloration. It commonly occurs with dark manganese oxides, which can form veins and dendritic patterns throughout the material.
