Azurite with Malachite California Dimensions: 5.5 x 4.8 x 3.2 cm
A striking vintage copper mineral specimen featuring richly saturated royal-blue azurite with contrasting blue-green malachite on a dark brown matrix. The azurite occurs as dense radiating and finely crystalline aggregates across much of the specimen, producing a sparkling, almost fibrous surface texture. Patches of turquoise to green copper mineralization provide excellent contrast against the deep blue azurite.
Azurite and malachite are secondary copper carbonate minerals that commonly form together within the oxidized zones of copper deposits, with azurite frequently altering to the more stable malachite under near-surface conditions.
