This is a fun specimen from the type locality for Perthite. Perthite is produced by the intergrowth of two alkali feldspars: a potassium-rich feldspar host, commonly microcline or orthoclase, containing sodium-rich albite. These components separated from an originally more homogeneous feldspar as the material cooled, producing the lamellar and patchy internal structure for which perthite is known.
