A richly colored example of conichalcite, with vivid emerald to grass-green mineralization spread generously across a contrasting tan and iron-stained matrix. Much of the conichalcite occurs as a finely crystalline, sparkling crust, while thicker areas develop rounded, botryoidal aggregates and small knobby growths that give the surface considerable texture.
Juab County belongs to one of Utah's classic mining regions, encompassing the historic Tintic mining country and numerous deposits noted for diverse secondary copper minerals. Conichalcite is documented from Juab County, including the celebrated Centennial Eureka Mine at Eureka, as well as occurrences within the broader Tintic region.
