Pale yellowish-green to cream Bismutite occurs as a dense, somewhat foliated crystalline mass with a soft pearly to silky luster. Individual bladed and platy textures are visible across the specimen, while areas of tan to rusty-brown alteration and staining provide contrast along the margins and between crystalline zones.
Bismutite is a secondary bismuth carbonate mineral, typically produced through the oxidation and alteration of primary bismuth-bearing minerals. Its colors commonly range from yellow and greenish-yellow to gray or brown, and it may occur as earthy masses or more distinctly crystalline and platy aggregates. The White Picacho Mining District is about 7 miles east of Wickenburg and is a well-documented bismuth-bearing pegmatite district.
