Petroleum Quartz is a fascinating variety of quartz containing naturally trapped hydrocarbon inclusions, tiny remnants of ancient organic material sealed within the crystal as it formed. These inclusions may appear as golden-yellow, amber, brown, or nearly colorless droplets and pockets, sometimes accompanied by tiny moving gas bubbles. One of petroleum quartz's most remarkable features is its response to long-wave ultraviolet light, when many of the hydrocarbon inclusions fluoresce vivid electric blue, blue-white, or occasionally yellow-green.

Under normal lighting the crystals can appear deceptively understated, making their brilliant UV reaction especially dramatic. Each specimen offers a miniature glimpse into the geological environment in which the quartz developed, combining beautiful crystal growth with naturally preserved hydrocarbons millions of years old.
