A beautifully carved Larvikite horse featuring deep charcoal-gray to nearly black coloration accented by the distinctive silvery flashes characteristic of this fascinating natural stone. As the carving moves in the light, individual feldspar crystals can reveal subtle flashes of silver, gray, and occasionally blue, creating a shifting reflective appearance across the surface.

The horse is intricately carved with a flowing mane and tail, saddle and tack details, and a dimensional standing form. Larvikite’s naturally coarse crystalline pattern gives each carving additional depth, with variations of smoky gray, black mineral inclusions, and reflective feldspar distributed throughout the stone.

Larvikite is an igneous rock dominated by feldspar, rather than a variety of labradorite despite sometimes being marketed as “Black Labradorite.” Its characteristic shimmer is produced by light interacting with its feldspar crystals.
