An attractive miniature from the famous Tonglushan Mine featuring pale lavender amethyst crystals dramatically positioned on a sparkling calcite-rich matrix. The dominant amethyst crystal displays beautiful internal purple color zoning with transparent outer areas, while a second crystal projects outward from the base of the specimen.
The contrast between the softly colored amethyst and the pale, finely crystallized matrix creates an especially delicate appearance. Amethyst with calcite is a recognized mineral association from Tonglushan, with documented specimens ranging from isolated amethyst crystals partially jacketed by calcite to larger groups of purple quartz accompanied by scalenohedral calcite crystals.
