The specimen carries an extensive coating of pale lavender to nearly colorless amethyst/quartz crystals, with dozens of sharp terminations arranged over a pale gray-green, sparkling matrix. The crystals vary considerably in size, which keeps the surface from looking monotonous—there are tiny drusy areas, intermediate crystals, and several larger amethyst crystals providing focal points.
What really catches the collector's eye is the large lavender crystal emerging at the upper edge. It has substantially stronger color than most of the smaller crystals and immediately establishes that this isn't merely colorless quartz. The smaller crystals have very delicate lavender zoning concentrated toward their terminations.
