Septarian nodules are a type of concretion found all over the world. They are thought to be formed from mud that cracks due to dehydration, and calcite forms in the resulting cavity. This particular specimen has been shaped from a Moroccan nodule that has been polished all the way around and has a small cut on the base allowing it to stand freely. The glittery brown calcite crystals inside are simply gorgeous.
