A substantial carved Shungite skull with a deep charcoal-black coloration and a smooth, semi-metallic polish. The stone retains plenty of natural character, with fine veining and fracture patterns visible across the surface along with scattered brassy metallic inclusions that provide little flashes of contrast. Deeply carved eye sockets, defined cheekbones, individual teeth, and a strong anatomical profile give this larger skull a dramatic appearance.
Shungite is a carbon-rich rock best known from the Republic of Karelia in northwestern Russia. Its composition can vary considerably, and natural Shungite commonly contains additional mineral phases that create veins, inclusions, and metallic-looking accents throughout the material.
