An exceptional self-standing large cabinet specimen of Fluorite from the celebrated Funky February Pocket at Greenlaws Mine in Weardale, England. This striking plate is covered in an intricate arrangement of intergrown cubic crystals and twinning, displaying smoky champagne, silvery-gray, subtle olive, and delicate lavender tones. The crystals range from translucent to remarkably transparent, with brilliant reflective faces, complex internal zoning, and variations in crystal growth.
Particularly noteworthy are the multiple generations of mineralization visible throughout the specimen. Earlier crystal formations are partially overgrown by subsequent generations of Fluorite, creating a three-dimensional landscape.
The Greenlaws Mine is among the most celebrated modern sources of English Fluorite, producing specimens prized for their unusual coloration, complex growth patterns, and distinctive daylight fluorescence. Material from individually documented pockets is particularly desirable, offering collectors a more detailed connection to the mine's mineralogical history.
Accompanied by its original pocket label, this substantial specimen is an outstanding example of the complex crystallization and distinctive character associated with Greenlaws Mine Fluorite.
