A beautiful natural pink Elbaite Tourmaline crystal from the Água Branca pegmatite in Coronel Murta, Minas Gerais, Brazil.
This specimen features a bright candy to rose-pink color with excellent translucency through portions of the crystal. Subtle variations in saturation give the crystal added depth, while clearer internal areas create glassy windows that allow light to travel through the specimen.
The broad prismatic form displays pronounced longitudinal striations, one of the characteristic growth features of tourmaline. Natural stepped growth, internal veils, and reflective fractures create plenty of sparkle as the crystal is turned. The irregular upper surface and edges preserve additional natural growth and contact features, giving the piece an appealingly raw appearance.
The Água Branca pegmatite is part of the famous gem-bearing pegmatite region of Minas Gerais and is particularly noted among collectors for producing colorful elbaite tourmalines. Pink elbaite from this locality is an excellent representation of the richly colored tourmalines for which Brazil is renowned.
