Pollucite
Varuträsk, Skellefteå, Västerbotten County, Sweden
Dimensions: 2.0 x 1.8 x 1.8 cm

Swedish pollucite has been the subject of dedicated mineralogical research, with Varuträsk recognized as one of only a small number of important Swedish occurrences. Varuträsk produced substantial masses of pollucite, and historical accounts indicate approximately 350 tonnes were recovered during mining of the pegmatite. The deposit became particularly notable for its cesium- and lithium-rich mineral assemblage, with pollucite concentrated among its highly evolved inner zones.

This piece is a translucent colorless to pale gray-white massive aggregate, with a softly vitreous to somewhat pearly luster across its irregular cleavage and fracture surfaces. It is not a crystallized display piece; rather, it represents the massive pollucite characteristic of the deposit.
