Locality: Vanadinite- Mibladen mining district, Midelt Province, Drâa-Tafilalet Region, Morocco
Size: 4.2 x 2.5 x 2.5 cm
Vivid, architectural, and intensely saturated, this Vanadinite specimen features sharply formed hexagonal crystals rising dramatically from a natural matrix.
This piece showcases classic barrel-shaped Vanadinite crystals in a rich orange-red hue, with flat terminations and crisp edges characteristic of the mineral’s hexagonal crystal system. The saturated color is produced by vanadium within the crystal structure (Pb₅(VO₄)₃Cl), giving the specimen its fiery, almost lacquered brilliance.
The crystals display a resinous luster that catches the light beautifully, while their geometric stacking creates a bold, sculptural presence. Set against contrasting matrix, the formation highlights the natural growth habit and dimensionality of this secondary lead mineral.
Vanadinite forms in the oxidized zones of lead deposits, developing through the alteration of primary lead minerals in vanadium-bearing environments. Well-formed, brightly colored crystals such as these are highly prized by collectors for both aesthetic impact and crystal perfection.
This specimen offers strong color saturation, distinct crystal geometry, and excellent display presence — a striking addition to any curated mineral cabinet.
