A lovely Albite specimen composed of tightly intergrown, elongated bladed crystals with a very pale icy blue to blue-white coloration. The crystals are translucent with a bright vitreous to pearly luster and pronounced parallel striations and cleavage surfaces. Small areas of pale yellow to golden staining provide contrast across the otherwise cool-toned specimen.
Albite is the sodium-rich end member of the plagioclase feldspar series and is a common component of granitic pegmatites. Amelia Court House is a classic Virginia pegmatite district and is well documented for Albite, including material from the Rutherford, Jefferson, and Champion mines.
